Alonzo Washington is a proud life-long resident of Prince George’s County, and a graduate of Prince George’s County Public Schools. Raised by a determined single mother, Alonzo graduated from high school and was the first member in his entire family to attend college. Alonzo is a proud first-generation college graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park where he was initiated in the Iota Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha.
After serving on the Prince George’s Democratic Central Committee, he was nominated to fill the seat of the retired Delegate Justin Ross. In December 2012, Governor O’Malley appointed Alonzo to complete the remainder of Delegate Ross’ term. Additionally, he worked to shut down nuisance businesses, rehabilitate neighborhoods by establishing the Housing Investment Trust Fund, and cultivated relationships between residents and the county police to decrease crime. He is a true example of the “work of Alpha” being done in the community.
